Children may suffer with knock knees this may become a problem as they get older, it is well worth while having them checked out if you suspect they may have problems. If your child walks or runs with his/her knees very close together, perhaps even touching when walking, this condition is called knock knees or Genu Valgum. In the first 12 months of life, bowed legs are normal. The legs naturally bow outward and begin to straighten as the baby grows.

Knock knees has to do with how the knee lines itself up with the hip and ankle.   In a normal standing position, if someone's knees are touching, then their ankles will also touch.  In a child with knock knees though, when the knees touch, the ankles are separated by a good distance.  Their knees “knock” into one another, if you feel your child has knock knees and you are not sure if it is normal bring them along for a consultation to have this checked out.
