The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue located along the bottom surface of the foot, that runs from the heel to the forefoot. The planter fascia can become inflamed due to over pronation (flat feet) which causes pain in the arch. The term arch pain refers to inflammation which manifests as a burning sensation at the arch of the foot. The major cause of arch pain is plantar fascitis. Plantar fascitis is caused by excessive stretching of the plantar fascia, caused by an incorrect pressure distribution of pressure in the foot, this can be picked up very effectively with footscan technology. This foot type usually over-pronates (flat feet). The inflammation caused by the plantar fascia being stretched away from the heel, often leads to pain in the heel and arch areas.
